IRA SCOTT LEVIN
Whether escapading as Uncle Eye (The Willy Wonka of children's music), inciting riots of elation from California to Scotland, or time traveling with the Bugs Bunny surrealistic rock band Comfy Chair, Ira finds a way to bring an uplifting song into…oh…nine out of ten realities.

Practically born on the stage in Miami, Florida, he studied theater and music at F.S.U. While on his way to L.A. to become a comic actor, he decided to stay in Colorado to concentrate on writing music. When he did come to California he opted for Berkeley, where he has gotten a chance to study voice with the late great Judy Davis and had free reign to expand organically, not only as a composer but as a song leader and volunteer for TV stations, libraries, and Earth days.
A great fan of Fats Waller, The Gershwin Brothers, The Beatles, and Jethro Tull, Ira seeks to infuse a classic sense of melody into his songs.
So far, he has composed material for two CDs with Comfy Chair, the Elektra Records compilation Jump up and Boogie, his original play The Plant's Taking Over, Elie Wiesel's Trial of God, (performed at the Rhinoceros Theater in San Francisco), and his first children's CD Hippo on my Head (which he recently showcased in Scotland at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival), a music video for Velvet Mustache, filmed in NYC, The Uncle Eye Show (a TV Pilot), The Sultan of Time, his first solo CD for the grown-ups (not the grown-olds) which reveals more of his spiritual and whimsical nature through the vehicle of Soulfolk*. The Sultan’s leading track, 'Part of the Divine', was awarded Honorable Mention for Song of the Year Contest by The Northern California Songwriter's Association.
Ira's latest CD release, Madlik Oti is Jewish Soulfolk to help bridge the gap between tribes and tents.

Ira is a memeber of the Screen Actors Guild,The Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators, Musician's Union Local 424, The Bay Area Jewish song leader's
network, and is a card carrying member of theLibrary. He has also been a member of the Children's Music Network, The Northern California Songwriter's Association,
and is a big fan of The Tick.

*Soulfolk is music for your atoms to dance to.

It too is music for children.
We are all children.
